Umpires

ABBOTSFORD MATSQUI MINOR UMPIRES ASSOCIATION

As proud members of  the Canadian Amateur Softball and British Columbia Amateur Softball Associations, we have been supplying Abbotsford Minor Fastball games with umpires for many years.  We offer our services for both minor girls and boys games, from Squirt to Senior level play.  Despite what some coaches might say, we are a non-biased group, and welcome new umpires of all ages.

Are you interested in becoming an umpire?

We are always looking new umpires to get involved in our program and help facilitate the great game of softball. When you join our umpiring staff, you are only asked to umpire in your free time, and are only assigned games you can manage while advancing your skill level. As you become more comfortable your role as an umpire, you can begin to umpire higher competition level games.

The opportunity for advancement is unlimited for those that love the game and apply their skills on the field of play.  It is a great way to give back to the community while making a bit of extra money.  A lot of umpires that get involved enjoy the experience so much, they stay with it through the years and end up umpiring national championships or running tournaments as a UIC (Umpire in Charge).

Games take place on Monday – Thursday nights at varying times. There are also opportunities to umpire tournament games on select weekends. Clinics and refresher courses are done every year on weekends in March and/or April.
